Alien life may be hiding within a mysterious cavern beneath the surface of Mars,
researchers claim.A frightening crater on the dust-covered slopes of Mars’ Pavonis Mons volcano
was chosen by two space scientists as a ultimate spot for extraterrestrials.
NASA says the “uncommon” feature “appears to be an hole to an underground cavern.
An actual image of the hole was first taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO)
in 2011, and space scientists have carefully studied it ever since.
That first photo appeared on NASA’s website over the weekend
“Analysis and follow-up images revealed the opening to be about 35 meters across,”
“The interior shadow angle indicates that the underlying cavern is roughly
20 meters deep.” The space scientists went on to say that extraterrestrial life may be lurking in the strange hole.Opening like the one in Pavonis Mons will possibly be the prey of alien-hunting missions to Mars in future.
“Why there is a circular crater surrounding this hole remains a topic of speculation, as is the full extent of the underlying cavern,” NASA’s officials said. “Holes such as this are of particular interest because their interior caves are relatively protected from the harsh surface of Mars.“This makes them relatively good candidates to contain Martian life.Future missions to explore Martian holes could be led by space probes, robots, or even human explorers, they also said.
