Morgan Freeman Transforms Huge Ranch Into Bee Sanctuary To Help Save The World

We are all aware of the crucial role played by the bees in our ecosystem. Unfortunately, despite their major importance, there is a dramatic decline in their population, over the last few years.Talking about their importance, bees are responsible for more than 80 percent of pollination. With other words, if the pollination does not take place, there’s no fruits, vegetables and other food sources.

However, ignoring the bee’s essential role in our ecosystem, humans managed to destroyed them by using all sorts of pesticides with pollution and climate change contributing to their decline. However, with all those careless people out there, it seems there are still a few who do care about our planet. One of them is the famous actor, Morgan Freeman. He transformed his huge 124-acres land in Mississippi, to protect the bees.
It all started in 2014, when the 81 years old Oscar winner read about the world’s huge bee die-off. Now he has 26 bee hives.“There is a concerted effort for bringing bees back onto the planet… We do not realize that they are the foundation, I think, of the growth of the planet, the vegetation,” he said in an interview.
“I have not ever used the beekeeping hat with my bees. They haven’t stung me yet, as right now I am not trying to harvest honey or anything, but I just feed them…I also think that they understand, ‘Hey, don’t bother this guy, he’s got sugar water here,” the movie star added. As a bee hive could contain 10,000 up to 60,000 bees, we can easily say that Morgan Freeman’s bee sanctuary hold quite a large population.
Fortunately, Morgan Freeman isn’t the only celebrity who try to protect bees. Leonardo DiCaprio, Scarlett Johansson or Martha Stewart are all amateur beekeepers as well.
